On my workstation, which is a dual-boot system with Linux and Windows 7, the “March 2017 Security Monthly Quality Rollup” fail-looped with the message “Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes.” The usual resources on the web were not helpful at all, not to mention the generic useless tips from Microsoft. It turned out that the bootloader was updated by Microsoft which went south when finding a Linux bootloader configuration. The only thing that helped was to pinch off the Linux disks which fortunately did not share any partitions with Windows. This did the trick and i was able to patch the awful wannacry security hole.
